Planing / Scabbling

This is the use of a machine with a high-speed rotating drum, which cuts into the surface. This method can be used to texture the surface and to remove coatings, latex, adhesives and tile bed. Planing can also be used to reduce the level of the floor. As with diamond grinding, a vacuum can be attached to the equipment for a dust free operation. The desired final finish of the floor should be taken into account when using planing as the harsh cuts in the surface can mirror though in floor types 1-3. In these instances, diamond grinding would be carried out after the planing, to smooth out the surface before resin application.
